St. Pius X parish, while it no longer has a school, still supports K-12 Catholic education. As a sign of this support, registered, active, and contributing members of the parish can receive a scholarship for their children. Parents are required to fill out the FACTS financial aid form (or another equivalent if the school uses a different form). For each student, a scholarship will be provided to reduce the tuition for the family, as well as a subsidy for the school itself to help lower their costs.
Scholarship Application Forms for the 2021-2022 academic year are due 31 March 2021 by 4:30 p.m. Failure to submit the application by that point could result in no scholarship being awared.
Pleae fill out the attached form (below) and mail to the parish office or email to Fr. Anthony (pastorspxparish@gmail.com).
Bishop Boyea has extended the dispensation from Sunday and Holyday Masses through Sunday, 16 May (inclusive). Bishop Boyea does note, however, that all are required to keep Sunday holy, and should pray, view Mass on TV or the Internet, or listen to the Mass on the radio. Below is the decree from Bishop Boyea:
EARL BOYEA
Divina Miseratione et Apostolicæ Sedis Gratia
EPISCOPUS LANSINGENSIS
DECREE
EXTENDING THE DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION
TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS AND OTHER OBLIGATORY HOLY DAYS UNTIL SUNDAY MAY 16, 2021 INCLUSIVE
AS THIS REGION continues to be afflicted with the COVID-19 virus and its complications, again taking into account the gravity of the law from which dispensation is given (can. 90 §§1, 2) and considering anew the spiritual good of the people of God entrusted to my care (can. 87 §1), I decree that the faithful of the Diocese of Lansing are dispensed from the obligation to attend Holy Mass on Sundays and other Holy Days of Obligation until Sunday, May 16, 2021, inclusive. I likewise express my hope that the following Sunday, May 23, 2021, on which the Church celebrates the great Solemnity of Pentecost, will see the resumption of the Sunday and Holy Day obligation, with due precautions being taken and provisions being made for the most vulnerable. Due to the extended duration of the various dispensations that have preceded the current decree, I also intend to issue a singular precept urging the proper understanding and observance of the universal law regarding this obligation.
As previously provided, the faithful are reminded that while the Sunday obligation to attend Mass is dispensed, all are nevertheless obligated to keep the Lord’s day holy (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2168-2195). It is especially recommended to engage in prayer, either personally or as a family (cf, can. 1248 §2), for example, by devoutly following a broadcast of the Sunday Mass by television, internet, or radio. Parishes are
encouraged to continue to use the various means of social communications to maximize accessibility to the faithful.
Anything to the contrary notwithstanding. With immediate effect.
Given at the Curia in Lansing on this, the third day of February, the memorial of Saint Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, in the year of our Lord 2021.
Most Reverend Earl Boyea
Bishop of Lansing
We value the health and safety of St. Pius X parish employees and guests. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Pius X parish has implemented preventive measures in line with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Our focus is to ensure we meet the needs of those whom we serve while doing our part to keep our employees and our communities safe. For the latest updates, we recommend the guidance provided at the CDC website (cdc.gov/coronavirus).
Our buildings and worship spaces will continue to be cleaned with disinfectant cleaning supplies regularly.
At this time, we are taking recommended precautions while continuing operations. While some of our employees are able to telework at least most of the time, we have instructed that all employees who work onsite:
Maintain a safe distance from one another (at least six feet).
Wash their hands frequently (at least 20 seconds).
Practice safe hygiene: cdc.gov/healthywater/hygiene/etiquette/coughing_sneezing
Have hand sanitizer with at least 62% alcohol readily available.
Wipe down their workspaces at least once per day with sanitizing wipes, which are provided.
Cover their mouth and nose with a tissue and dispose of the tissue and wash hands. When a tissue is not available, use the crook of the elbow to cover the cough or sneeze.
Stay home if they are not feeling well or have symptoms such as a fever (100.4° or more) or a cough or trouble breathing.
Self-quarantine or seek medical treatment when necessary.
We are committed to continuing to serve our parishioners during this time.
As you likely know, the Department of the Attorney General has initiated an investigation into the sexual abuse and assault by Catholic priests of children and others as well as the concealment of these crimes. On 3 October 2018, investigators from the Department and the Michigan State Police executed a search warrant on the seven dioceses in Michigan obtaining relevant documents for this investigation going back to January 1950. All seven dioceses have pledged their cooperation with the investigation.
In light of this, the Department would like to give every victim of abuse by a priest, or those with information relating to the investigation of abuse and coverup, the ability to share more information on the Attorney General toll-free hotline at 844-324-3374 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or send information by email through the link https://www.michigan.gov/ag and select "Learn More" in the Open Investigations section.
The identity and information provided by any victim shall remain confidential during the course of our investigation. The purpose of this investigation is to prosecute any crimes that occurred and to identify any and all perpetrators, whether or not they can be prosecuted, so that those who have survived these crimes may heal and to guarantee that no one will be victimized again.
A new way to grow in your faith!!
